The Departmentof Civil Engineering has started its functioning since its inception in the year 1957. The vision of this
department is to produce quality students who can be accepted nationally and globally as well. Since past, the state PWD,
CPWD, ONGC, Rural Engg. Dept., Forest Dept., Power Dept. etc are the major area, where the said students are employed. The
laboratory facilities are being strengthened under the Tech-Ed-III project. The Department has also undertaken different
testing of Civil Engg construction materials to generate Internal Revenue. This Department has established Laboratories
like: has a Computer Center with sufficiently large number of workstations and servers along with related equipment like
printer (including high capacity laser printers, network printer, dot-matrix & colour printer, plotter), scanner, modems etc.
The Department has also faculty having good practical & theoritical exposures in different fields.The Diploma level &
Degree courses in Civil Engineering are broad based, designed to introduce the students to a wide range of problems
encountering in the field. A large number of elective subjects are offered to enable a student to study the areas of
his special interest, in depth. The main areas with which students are made familiar are :
- Geo-Technical Engineering.
- Structural Engineering
- Concrete Technology
- Irrigation Engineering
- Water Resources Engineering
- Highway Engineering
- Public Health Engineering
- Construction Technology
The Department has several Dial-up connections. Proposal for having 128 Kbps ISDN connections has already been approved
with the facility of video conferencing. Lab is equipped with 17 nodes with 2 high-end servers connected through LAN.
The lab is having Hubs, two Rackmount Level2 24 port switches. In the nodes both Windows XP and Linux are installed.
