The growing interest in software programming and development, has created a prime position of pride for the country,
in the world community. Computer Science as an academic course involves familiarizing students with the hardware, operating
systems, networking, applications, software programming, languages, Internet related fields & newer technologies and
their convergence like multimedia and 3G technology. So these courses will serve the local need in particular and the related
computer world in general.
Both Diploma & Degree program in Computer Science targets the development of aptitudes and abilities in the following areas:
- To impart computer hardware and basic software education to enable the students to program and maintain
computers and microprocessor based equipment.
- To develop real life systems solutions and to build state-of-the-art systems for various applications.
- To inculcate the requisite knowledge and skills to enable students to join companies in middle level
positions as computer programmers or engineers analysts.
- To develop effective solutions for Govt. organizations, Commercial establishment and the software industry.
- To become full fledged IT professional to meet the demands of the ever growing IT industry.
The department imparts instructions in various fields and offers traditional and new areas like Operating System
(with case studies and practical exposures of WinNT, Windows2000/2003 Advanced Server, UNIX and Linux), Advanced Computer
Architecture, Object Oriented Numerical Methods, Computer Networking, Data Base Management System, Digital Electronics etc.
The facilities available in the department can be summarized as below:
Computer Center
Department has a Computer Center with sufficiently large number of workstations and servers along with related
equipment like printer (including high capacity laser printers, network printer, dot-matrix & colour printer),
Plotter & scanner etc.
The center is enriched with latest authorized & licensed software like SCO UNIX Open Server 7.0, WINDOW-2003
Advanced Server, WINDOW 98/2000/XP, Linux, UNIX platforms are available in Computer Center as C/C++( both Turbo C
Compiler and Borland C++ Compiler), Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft Project Management Software, Oracle 8i,
Developer 2000, Microsoft SQL Server2000, Macromedia Fireworks-MX, Dreamweaver-MX, Flash-MX, Adobe PhotoShop, Acrobat
Reader-writer, 3D Studio-MX, Orcad P-spice, COBOL80, Borland J-Builder with integrated developing kit for mobile devices.
Internet Facility
The Department has dedicated 64kbps broadband and 64 Kbps ISDN internet connectivity.
Campus LAN

netwrok with OFC and 100mbps CAT-5 cable.
Salient features
The department is equipped with advanced training facilities geared to meet the needs of Computer Science
education. The Department and Computer Centre together have ProgrammingLab, Network Lab, RDBMS Lab and Hardware
trouble shooting Lab and Multimedia Lab. Also, the department has audio-visual and other modern teaching aids for
making the teaching easy and effective. The department has already procured a large scale of LRs and CBTs. The
process of buying more computers, high-end servers, workstations, peripherals and latest software etc., are in pipeline.
In the new campus the department has planned to have separate laboratories for Multimedia, Linux and Project lab.
The Department has an in-house software-developing cell. This cell has developed several softwares like Library
Management software, Payroll System, Intelligent File manager etc for the Institution. These softwares are fully
operational. The Cell is now in the process to develop few types of software keeping in mind the commercial needs.
